Anointing of the sick …is one of the sacraments of healing. It was previously understood as ‘Extreme Unction’ or anointing of the dying. However in recent years the Church has begun to reclaim this as a sacrament of the healing power of God and it is now ordinarily used to anoint those who have a serious illness of whatever kind.
